Technical Requirements:
■ Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate Edition
Supported Hardware
PowerPlaylist requires a compatible Microsoft Xbox 360, Xbox Media Center, Microsoft Xbox Live, Microsoft Zune or Microsoft Media Center Companion device to function properly.
PowerPlaylist can only be used on computers that have the media player of the device attached to it. The Xbox 360 and Xbox Media Center device will also need to be plugged into the computer’s game port to play video. Windows Media Center on the same computer will read the media files and send them to the Xbox 360 or Xbox Media Center device. To do this, plug both the Xbox 360 or Xbox Media Center device into a game port and plug in the media player.
This should be done to the computer’s game port, as this is where the signal transmits to the media player and not through a USB port.
You must have the media player of the connected device installed on your computer in order for PowerPlaylist to function properly.
Supported Devices
PowerPlaylist has been tested with the following devices:
■ Microsoft Xbox 360
■ Microsoft Xbox Live
■ Microsoft Zune (Windows Media Center Edition on Windows Vista)
■ Microsoft Media Center Companion (see technical requirements above)

PowerPlaylist [Updated]

After installation, PowerPlaylist will allow you to start your video, audio, image / slideshow, or presentation from anywhere on your computer, including the homegroup, or from anywhere on your LAN using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) protocol.

The one thing that frustrates me about it is that the app doesn’t show up in Task Manager. Where is it? I can’t find a registry key. I go to Start and search. If I search’media center’ I get a couple of results, but they aren’t the app, and they are just search results.

BUT! I can start the app by typing mediapowerplaylist in the Start Menu bar.

Key points:
The media center configuration dialog can be started from a shortcut on the desktop.
The configuration dialog can be opened by clicking the tray icon
PowerPlaylist can be started by clicking the tray icon.
New Windows Media Player can be accessed by double clicking the tray icon.
PowerPlaylist isn’t a power-user tweak, it’s meant to provide a more complete power-user experience that’s contained to the program.

The power play icon is a slider in the taskbar.

Run it, and its little tray icon will appear in the taskbar.
If the icon is to the left of the clock in the taskbar, click the icon to open the dialog.
Click the icon to open media center.
If the screen is blank, click the speaker icon in the taskbar.

it’s a nice

Ok, now it’s time to show off a little more (personal use only).

NOTE: I currently don’t have a power user on my computer so the rest of this is just mine, not official commentary.

Create a shortcut on your desktop.
Click on the shortcut, and click on properties.
Click on the “Start in” tab, and use the Browse button to navigate to /mnt/program/media-center.exe.
In the “shortcut” text box, enter %Systemroot%\Program Files\Microsoft® MediaPlayer_10.0
Click ok and ok again.

What you just did was created a shortcut to Microsoft® MediaPlayer_10.0 that will open MediaCenter.exe when double clicked (clicked on the icon).
Let’s have some fun. Open up Media Center and click Start on the Taskbar.
The next screen you see
